Saniplus Macerating Toilet System
Allows Bathrooms to be Built Virtually Anywhere

GUELPH, ONTARIO,CANADA — The Saniplus Macerating Toilet System from SFA SANIFLO INC.allows the construction of bathrooms where it is impossible or cost-prohibitive to install conventional plumbing fixtures that require below-floor drainage.

With Saniplus, a new bathroom can be created wherever it is most convenient for the home or building owner: in a basement, attic or garage; underneath stairs or inside a newly remodeled space. Gone is the need for costly excavation of the existing floor or the creation of a raised floor to install a drain line, as required by systems using a sump or sewage ejector.

“Saniplus can be set atop any finished floor,” says SANIFLO president Johan Bouwer. “Walls and floors remain intact, and installation is accomplished quickly and economically with minimal disturbance to room layout. A complete bathroom can be operational in as little time as a half-day.

”While ideal for creating new bathrooms in the home, Saniplus can also be used in a variety of commercial and institutional applications, including office buildings, retail stores, schools, restaurants and the like.

What’s a Macerator?
A macerating toilet looks very much like a conventional toilet and commands the same amount of floor space. But instead of routing the flush water through a drain in the floor, the system moves it through a rear-spigot outlet in the toilet bowl to a macerator pump contained in a small plastic box that is positioned on or inside the wall behind the toilet. Similar to a garbage disposal, the macerator uses a fast-rotating cutting blade to liquefy human waste and toilet paper in the flush water. Within seconds, this fine slurry is discharged under pressure through a copper, PVC or CPVC discharge line as small as 3/4-inch to a soil stack or a septic tank.

The macerating action minimizes the risk of blockages within the unit itself and the piping. The noise created by the macerator is comparable to that of a conventional toilet tank filling.

The macerator pump can receive effluent from a hand basin, bathtub and shower as well as the toilet when all these fixtures are located on the same level. When hooked to a shower, a platform of two inches by six inches should be constructed under the fixture to permit the installation of a P-trap and some gravity flow to the Saniplus macerating unit.

Effluent can be pumped from the Saniplus unit vertically to a height of 12 feet and horizontally 150 feet – or a combination of both. Any horizontal run requires a gravity fall. Maximum pumping pressure is 10 pounds per square inch.

With regard to the electrical connections for the macerator pump, Saniplus must be connected to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) circuit. The supply is 120 volts, 15-amp single-phase.

Code-Approved: The Saniplus Macerating Toilet System has been certified by CSA (CSA B45.9-1999) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME A112.3.4-2000). The product is also listed by the International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials (ANSI112.19), as well as by several other codes: the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the International Plumbing Code (IPC), the Southern Building Code, and the Massachusetts State Plumbing Board.

SANIFLO warranties the Saniplus macerating unit, including its electrical components, for 12 months.
