SFA Saniflo USA’s Social Impact: Growing Together

Saniflo’s social responsibility efforts are tied to its commitment to sustainability and community welfare, as the company’s North American operations continue to grow.

SFA Saniflo USA’s market growth drives an increased focus on corporate social responsibility. Investing in the community to grow together, Saniflo, a part of SFA Group, aims to enrich the lives and communities we touch.

For more than 60 years, the companies of the SFA Group have been working to provide a clientele of professionals and consumers with sanitary comfort in their daily lives. SFA Group offers much more than technological know-how; they offer inventive, reliable, and easy-to-implement solutions.

Saniflo’s innovative approach to product solutions and brand creation begins with quality, but also focuses on providing critical environmental solutions through product design. Through product development, manufacturing, community development, and welfare solutions, we strive to protect the environment, provide basic necessities to those in need, and help develop better, healthier communities.

Below, we highlight some of Saniflo's most significant social-impact activities in 2022.

Protecting the environment

Saniflo has created innovative, eco-friendly, above-floor plumbing technologies that allow for quick and easy installation with minimal hassle and mess in both residential and commercial applications. Highly focused on sustainability, Saniflo macerators, grinders and drain pumps enable the installation of plumbing practically anywhere in a home or commercial building.

Saniflo products are designed to aid in reducing resource waste (such as water usage). For example, the Sanicompact one-piece macerating toilet will flush solid waste with 1.28 gpf (gallons per flush; 4.8 liters per flush) and liquids with only 1 gpf.

Similarly, the powerful, high-efficiency Sanibest Pro uses a smaller amount of water than conventional toilets — 1.28 gallons per flush vs. 1.6 gpf — but with no sacrifice in flushing power. It is also eligible for LEED certification, and recognized as water-saving by the EPA's WaterSense program.

Thanks to Saniflo's research and development efforts, we have managed to reduce the water consumption of our units, with potential annual savings of more than 3,400 gallons of water per family. We have also limited polystyrene packaging by replacing it with recyclable materials.

By committing to going green, Saniflo continues to explore methods and practices contributing to the goal of being environmentally and ethically responsible.

Some of Saniflo's green accomplishments include:

Joining the Green Business Bureau (GBB):

GGB is a national membership organization that uses an online assessment to certify green businesses. GBB's simple but comprehensive sustainability assessment helped Saniflo identify and communicate which efforts it has already completed while also helping to guide and formulate a plan for future initiatives. After completing the initial GBB Assessment, Saniflo US qualified for GBB Gold status. View Saniflo's GBB profile here.

Joining Konica Minolta's Clean Planet Program:

Konica Minolta is committed to sustainability and preserving the earth's natural resources. Its Clean Planet Program covers the return and recycling of Konica Minolta consumables, such as toner cartridges and bottles, imaging units, and photoconductor drums.

Receiving a Bronze EcoVadis CSR assessment:

EcoVadis, the world's most trusted corporate sustainability assessor, has awarded the SFA Group a bronze medal, placing it among the top 50% of companies evaluated by EcoVadis. This assessment is based on international sustainable development criteria, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard, which cover 200 categories of contributions and more than 160 countries.

Supporting people and communities in need

Saniflo works to create positive change in the communities where we live and work. Supporting humanitarian and nonprofit organizations, Saniflo ensures the company and surrounding communities grow together.

Some of Saniflo's community development and welfare efforts include:

Partnering with Plumbers Without Borders (PWB) as a Mission Supporter Sponsor:

As a Mission Supporter Sponsor, Saniflo North America will support the philanthropic work of PWB with product donations and technical support on a case-by-case basis. Based on past projects, PWB officials predict one or two projects that could benefit from Saniflo's innovative, above-floor plumbing solutions. Click here to learn more about the partnership.

Donating to multiple charitable food organizations in the United States:

Saniflo's recent monetary donation to Feeding America will provide 6,000 meals to families in need. Another contribution, to Meals on Wheels, will provide an additional 100 meals to needy families. Click hereto learn more about these charitable donations.

Partnering with World Toilet Organization as a Gold Partner:

November 19th, 2022, the SFA Group joined the Word Toilet Organization as a Gold Partner and supporter.

This international commitment acknowledges the responsibility and community-minded issues supported by the World Toilet Day. Through tangible actions enacted by both France & international subsidiaries (USA, Senegal, Cambodia, etc.) for the implement of sanitary solutions worldwide. These promote and contribute to the awareness &  importance of good hygiene and sanitary conditions.

Product and tuition donations to nonprofit organizations:

Showering Love: Saniflo has donated multiple products to Showering Love, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides mobile showers, new undergarments, socks, hygiene travel kits, and other supportive services for people who are housing-insecure. Incorporated in 2016, Showering Love built a specially equipped bus, called Grace, to provide showers and private restrooms to the Florida homeless community, from Palm Beach to Miami, in a mobile setting. Equipped with three donated Saniflo Sanishower drain pumps and one Sanibest Pro grinder pump, a newly refurbished Showering Love bus, Faith, recently became the nonprofit's second vehicle to provide those in need with one of life's basic amenities. Hope Vibes: Founded as a 501c3 organization in 2017 by the husband-and-wife team Emmanuel and Adrienne Threatt, Hope Vibes aims to bring awareness, hope and genuine solutions to the homeless epidemic in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, NC, area. After identifying a basic hygienic need among the homeless community, Hope Vibes moved to promote personal dignity by creating The Hope Tank. This 24-foot box truck is equipped with two private full baths and a laundry room, using two Sanigrind Pro grinder systems and a Sanicom 1 drain pump — all donated by Saniflo. Virginia Technical Institute (VTI): VTI is a nonprofit organization located in Altavista, Virginia, that provides hands-on training in various trades, including electrical, plumbing, heating and air, welding, pipe-fitting, carpentry, masonry, multi-craft industrial maintenance, and project management. Donating $3,000 per year in tuition fees, Saniflo's contributions will annually cover one semester for two students or two semesters for one.
